I’ve never been an academic, but my burning ambition from school was always to be an engineer. The choice of which career that most young students have to make is always difficult, so I feel extra lucky to have known what I wanted to do from an early age. I have over the years come to see engineering as a discipline that we never really master. Only that we just continually are developing throughout our careers. Nowadays automation plays a pivotal role in manufacturing and I’m pleased to see Greenfield embracing the introduction of the latest technologies throughout the business.
My interests outside of work are widely varied covering everything from my enjoyment of classic sports cars to visiting National Trust historic buildings. Many people spend so much time looking down at the floor where I enjoy looking up at the varied architecture of our old buildings. Finally the love of my life next to Michelle is our first granddaughter which we spend many happy hours all together.
“If I were to describe the business in just a couple of words it would definitely be….. Ambitious & Focused!!”
I have always believed in keeping focused on the numbers as the devil is in the detail. The initial business idea for starting the company was mine as I remember telling Frank we should set up our own Engineering company. I always knew we could and Frank had the drive and ability to make it successful he just didn’t know it at that time!! Most of the major investments we’ve made have helped the business grow and in turn win more new business.
Having the total responsibility for all aspects of the businesses finances makes the role the most important part of the operation, as it’s the heart of the organisation.
When I’m not at my desk I enjoy spending time at home, reading, walking and especially spending time with our granddaughter in the garden and the beach.
As one of the very first apprentices at Greenfield I have played a pivotal role within the company from those early days. I’m now part of the senior management, overseeing the company’s strategic development and taking the business onto the next level. Further developing the structure with the philosophy and principles of strengthening our own engineering team across the company.
We have the ability to demonstrate a passion for delivering sheet metal to our customers and a strong culture to ensure the operational targets and high standards are continually maintained.
I’m a keen golfer and love blasting around the North Cornish coast on my jet ski.
I believe in addition to the many management qualifications I have gained during my years in engineering that these work hand in hand with my honesty, integrity and respect. Above all I have a desire and internal drive to achieve everything I can and deliver the best results.
In my personal life, I have two sons who are both independently successful and I’m a husband to a beautiful supporting wife.
My main goal in life now is to take the business onto a higher level and become the very best we can as a sheet metal contractor.
I’m pleased to find myself now using my sheet metal skills in a totally different way from my early engineering years. My ambition is to make an impact on future customers as they will see I’m passionate about Greenfield Engineering and what we can offer customers to help their businesses grow. After being involved in all elements of the manufacturing process I have the opportunity to create and sustain new relationships with clients at all levels of industry.
Armed with the knowledge to promote Greenfield’s advanced manufacturing investment to wider business sector, I hope to make an impact and continuing contribution to business development.
Out of work I have a young family so hobbies are on the back burner for the time being, but I do still occasionally enjoy playing golf, cycling, football and squash.
Everything has the ability to be improved in some way, from the use of different materials, construction to shape and functionality of the finished product. When I look at the project or the component with customers I often see possible ideas on improvements using our advanced manufacturing methods. We can assess their current design and see if it can be improved or enhanced. Usually looking at the brief from a different prospective than the customer.
I’ve worked on many amazing projects over the years from bespoke high end office furniture which have won major awards for the design to product point of sale displays for leading household names.
In my free time, I enjoying cycling and running. I have two young daughters and my wife is expecting our third very soon!!
Throughout my apprenticeship I gained and developed many sheet metal skills on the shop floor which I rely on and have transferred into designing. I understand that when applying the design process whether it’s for office, industrial, commercial environments I have the technique which enables me to produce a unique and creative product that looks attractive and reflects the clients brief.
For some time a hobby and major interest has been cycling, or when I’m home with my wife usually getting ready to taxi my two daughters to gymnastics, swimming.
Product design the possibilities are endless! The skill set I have from Greenfield’s apprenticeship programme help me to develop a design from a sheet metal prospective. Our clients gain a lot of understanding of sheet metal working through the manufacturing process with us. I have a creative and meticulous character to get the right formula for the completion of any project.

My passion for engineering/design dates back to when I was coming up to my final years at school with an aptitude for mathematics and physics which enabled me to excel in science subjects at GCSE then onto A level. I was also interested in all aspects of the design process. I was selected and embarked on a project to make from scratch a Newtonian Refracting Telescope when I was 13 for which I won a design scholarship. When fully made you could see far into the solar system.
Seeing our family business grow made me particularly aware of manufacturing and the way a supply chain works. It also intrigued me how new technology introduced into a business can help the business compete against low wage economies. Upon finishing my apprenticeship, I became the Cell lead in assembly and dispatch with an 8-10 man team contributing to over 2million pounds of the company’s annual turnover. I now manage operations at the company and head up all procurement for the business.
Outside work I enjoy spending quality time with my young daughter and wife on the beach very near to our home. I have a passion for rugby, surfing, road cycling with the occasional game of golf when I have time.
As production manager I effectively lead and manage the manufacturing teams across the business to accomplish operational objectives. To coordinate the work flow of the fast-paced, multi-line manufacturing cells to hit multiple priorities and daily production schedules I take the overall responsibility to oversee all manufacturing processes, and production output on two independent sites. Working closely with the design team to ensure smooth new product introduction and strategic planning and execution of development projects before production rollout.
Putting a lot of emphasis on managing the team leaders giving them the support to make the right decisions under pressure is a great way to develop individuals. I’m part of the management team that implements our internal training programme to develop the production staff.

I have a professional approach and the ability to act independently to make sound professional decisions in difficult situations.
Always being idea driven means I can easily formulate a new method of working to deal with an existing manufacturing process. I also help develop and supervise the team and manage the resources effectively.
Outside of work interests, I enjoy training and keeping fit as well as travelling. I have visited every continent and struggle to name a favourite location of mine but I’m well at home on the North Cornish Coast. I enjoy food and fine wine, water-sports and watching rugby at all levels with my brother.

I manage a balance workflow efficiently through the site via various manufacturing processes while under pressure with varied workloads.
My hobbies include playing in a weekly six-a-side football league, road running and generally keeping fit. When I’m not exercising I enjoy feature films with my wife at home and at the cinema.

I enjoy heading up and being an important link with a successful team that thrives on challenging production conditions. I enjoy working within tight operational situations which I can plan the decision-making to overcome the common problem of deadlines. I have extensive experience in sheet metal production, and I can demonstrate a strong understanding of all routes of manufacture when discussing customers’ products and timelines. Liaising daily with team leaders to ensure production requirements match capacity, reflect skills, and equipment loading.
I believe I’ve found my niche in the business at present and I’m looking forward to further developing myself within the business which will in turn provide new opportunities.

I’m passionate about general fitness, road cycling in particular which I do to a high standard at my local club when I’m not at home.
I have been with the company since Bradworthy and have held several different engineering roles in the business as it has grown. I’ve always been motivated and demonstrated the technical skills in keeping the facility in good operating condition. It was a natural progression for me to be assigned plant inspections, from assessing and following safety guidelines to troubleshooting breakdowns. If repairs need further assistance I coordinate technicians to site if the breakdown cannot be dealt with internally.
I now manage all site facilities including repairs, maintenance to buildings and site. I am a continuously hardworking individual having a keen interest in ensuring that all high tech equipment is fully operational.
