Greenfield are pleased that young apprentices are being helped to get to work by a not-for-profit service which offers rental of two-wheeled transport to people who live or work anywhere in Devon. Devon Wheels 2 Work provides affordable, flexible, independent transport to people who may live or work in areas not served by public transport and cannot or do not want to run a car.
Based on the Holsworthy Industrial Estate they deal with all the elements of the motorcycle including advice on obtaining the compulsory basic training certificate (CBT), free loan of a jacket, sizing and fitting of the safety helmet and gloves, plus complete peace of mind with full after care service of the vehicle.
The motorbike or scooter rental scheme receives support funding from Devon County Council and other organisations and all profits from their commercial activities are used to subsidise the rental scheme. Having running costs starting as low as £26 per week, this service has received a great response from the young community wishing to start up their working career, but would normally have had difficulties getting to and from the workplace.
Since Devon Wheels 2 Work was formed they have helped hundreds of people successfully travel to work and training.
