Greenfield’s Mitchal Cisneros beat more than 20 nominees to win the top award in the Engineering Excellence category at this year’s prestigious higher technical skills awards evening held at the Barnstaple Hotel. The awards ceremony sets out to recognise the achievements of the next generation of engineering talent in North Devon. Greenfield have worked closely with Petroc College training many young apprentices dating back as far as 1995; recruiting, training and employing in excess of 30 former apprentices who now hold key senior roles across the business. Gary Burnard Operations Director, said ‘In the early days the size of our organisation never presented a barrier in identifying young talented individuals and supporting them to pursue a career at Greenfield via the apprenticeship route. Tonight is an acknowledgment of all of Mitchal’s excellent development and individual technical skills. It is also an endorsement to continue to support and promote the growth of the business by recruiting young students from the local community. This will in turn help to increase our engineering foundations. This will also further support and strengthen the expertise in manufacturing in North Devon’. Robert Coombes, Head of Engineering at Petroc College, said: Mitchal has consistently performed well at Petroc, winning multiple awards and producing excellent results due to his hard work and commitment. He has also made rapid progress with his company, Greenfield Engineering and is likely to progress further. He has always worked hard to attain the best results and supported other students’.
