The powder coating process requires accurate inspection to ensure compliance to customers different specifications. From the preparation of a multitude of surfaces to be coated, through climatic monitoring to cure the film thickness. So on-going visual assessment of micron thickness through the process batch is critical. Greenfield have just replaced their aging gauges and invested in two state of the art Elcometer digital gauges for both paint plants. The new models are highly accurate at measuring coating thickness on any substrate, whether ferrous or non-ferrous. The dry film thickness can be measured on either non-magnetic steel surfaces or magnetic surfaces such as aluminium using the digital gauge. The Elcometer has a series of data management software that links directly with the gauge to allow production reports to be downloaded by the engineering team. This will eliminate the paper trail and make it electronic data capture easier to report.
