Greenfield have a strong management team, especially in terms of technical prowess, however it’s important that the business keeps improving. Two senior managers have recently undertaken the level 5 diploma programme in business management and leadership, both Lee Harris (Production Manager), and Richard Green (Paint Plant, Assembly & Logistic’s Manager) have been enrolled on day release. This strategic training course will help to future-proof the business and in doing so will give greater responsibility to the management team. The ILM level 5 diploma is for middle managers with responsibility of substantial resources and production demands. It’s aims to further develop the skills in planning, strategic change and business processes, alongside core leadership and management abilities inspiring work colleagues in delivering results. This all forms part of the recognised qualification which is being run by Petroc College Barnstaple to further develop a competent team enhancing the skills and confidence as managers.

This insight is just as true in the world of business as it is in nature. No matter how well-established our business has become over the last thirty years, we constantly have a changing environment and marketplace that demands that we continually adapt, not just to survive, but also to thrive. This need to change spawns the most important area for me, training. Whether it be developing staff inside our business improving core sheetmetal skills, or adopting agile business management processes or investing as we do in the latest high-tech machinery, as Directors we always have an extensive ‘to do’ list of continual improvements across the business that’s always evolving and changing with the business needs.

Greenfield’s drive for on-going improvements is important in our long-term business plan. The new level 5 management course that Lee and Richard have started will further strengthen the management structure and improve our leadership team, and will also motivate others by showing our commitment to training across all levels within the business. The skills they will gain will help them eliminate a stressful fire-fighting culture that can easily creep in with poor management, so we keep our eyes firmly focused on the goal of being the best we can by delivering a top service to our customers every time!”
