Greenfield Engineering has agreed a new sustainability support programe with BCR Associates, reinforcing our commitment to measurable environmental improvement, responsible procurement and transparent reporting.
Building on the carbon baseline and Carbon Reduction Plan already completed during the first phase of our work with BCR, the new programe will introduce six clearly defined areas of activity:
- Annual greenhouse gas emissions reporting across Scope 1, Scope 2 and material Scope 3 categories.
- Annual review of our Carbon Reduction Plan.
- Development of a quarterly sustainability KPI framework.
- A supply-chain sustainability risk assessment.
- Production of an initial sustainability impact report.
- Review of our Internal EcoVadis evidence pack ahead of our next assessment.
The greenhouse gas assessment will consider emissions associated with energy use, purchased goods and services, transportation, waste, business travel and employee commuting. This will provide Greenfield with a stronger annual evidence base from which to measure progress and develop clearly dated carbon-reduction milestones. A new sustainability KPI framework will also bring together performance information covering energy, emissions, water, waste, transport and supplier progress. Designed to align with our established ISO 14001 environmental management arrangements, the framework will support more consistent monitoring and informed decision-making across the business.
The supply-chain workstream will introduce a structured risk-assessment and scoring methodology for suppliers representing approximately 80% of Greenfield’s total expenditure. This will strengthen our understanding of sustainability risks throughout the supply chain and support the continued development of responsible procurement practices. An initial sustainability impact report will bring this activity together across four principal areas: Environment and Carbon, People and Employer, Community and Social Value, and Governance. The report will provide a clear account of Greenfield’s progress, supported by relevant performance indicators and operational case studies.
The final workstream will focus on Greenfield’s next EcoVadis submission. Following the retention of our EcoVadis Silver Medal and achievement of a position within the 90th percentile, BCR will review supporting evidence against the carbon and sustainable-procurement actions identified within our latest scorecard.

Establishing consistent KPIs and a clearer evidence framework will allow us to monitor performance more effectively, identify opportunities and demonstrate progress against our ISO 14001, Carbon Reduction Plan and EcoVadis objectives.”
The programe is expected to run for approximately 14 weeks, with certain activities progressing in parallel. Annual greenhouse gas reporting and Carbon Reduction Plan reviews will then continue through three consecutive reporting cycles, supporting sustained progress through to the end of January 2030.
