Powder Coating

As the only Sheetmetal sub-contractor to have two fully automated powder coating lines. This gives the ability to process two independently different coloured consignments simultaneously.

The new Wagner IPS coating centre the first in the UK with fully automatic powder distribution system. The powder paint is delivered to the application point (gun tip) in a highly controlled and efficient way. This achieves high coating performance and coverage consistently. In combination with the feed centre is the fast colour change booth. This gives total flexibility with complete colour change times under ten minutes.

Plant one has a complete control system administered using the latest Wagner touch screen controller, which controls the IPS feed centre thus ensuring precision dispensing of powder flow to the product from all the contouring guns. The pressurised closed-loop IPS feed centre is the only one on the market that enables fast automatic clean colour-change without operator intervention. Assuring zero powder containment during powder application and general operation. This automatically creates a safer, more productive environment improving all the powder management. The system is consolidated and controlled in a centre place enhancing operator performance. The advanced Wagner system has no pumps or venturi this improves colour application eliminating poor powder flow or contamination risk.

The line has a large working envelope of 660 X 1300 X 3000 horizontally. The plant also has an overhead conveyorized system that runs at 3 metre-per-minute. Designed to take medium to large production runs incorporating the latest touch screen technology and PLC controls. In addition, it monitors all the digital temperature displays and burner settings with heat recovery system to improve efficiency reducing the carbon emissions. Additionally, it the system has six contouring guns a side with remote automatic distance monitoring scanners moving each gun automatically to the optimum place for part coverage which is activated from motion curtain and individual part scanners as production enters the booth.

Components that have been loaded enter a chamber five-stage cleaning pretreatment all of which is constantly monitored though the different vapour stages. Then entering the high-efficiency drying oven onto the painting application, and finally the stoving process, ensuring the highest quality standard for a powder coated finish. Balanced oven temperature on entry and exit to minimise both heat utilisation a heat recovery system is in place which means that the plant is operated more efficiently as painted product is processed.
