Greenfield Engineering has reached another significant manufacturing milestone with the addition of our 10th CNC turret punch press, further expanding one of the largest areas of production capability within the business. Reaching double figures represents the continued development of our CNC punching department and another substantial investment in the capacity, flexibility and resilience required to support our growing customer base.
Ten Machines – Significant Punching Capacity
CNC punching has long been at the heart of Greenfield’s sheet metal manufacturing capabilities, providing an efficient and highly productive solution for both repeat production and complex component requirements. The arrival of machine number ten further increases the production hours available across the department, allowing workloads to be balanced effectively while providing additional capacity for new and existing customer programs. Continued standardization across our AMADA punching fleet also provides considerable operational benefits, allowing production to move efficiently between machines while maximizing common tooling, programming knowledge and operator experience.
Investing Ahead of Demand
Our investment strategy continues to focus on building capacity ahead of demand, ensuring manufacturing capability does not become a constraint as Greenfield and our customers continue to grow.
Daniel Green, Director at Greenfield Engineering, commented:
“Reaching ten CNC punching machines is a significant milestone and demonstrates the scale of investment we continue to make in this area of the business.
“Our strategy has always been about investing ahead of demand. Building a large, standardized punching fleet gives us the capacity to support growth, but equally important is the flexibility and resilience it provides across day-to-day production.
“Ten machines is a considerable punching capability, but our focus remains the same – continuing to invest in the technology and infrastructure needed to support our customers long term.”
Part of a Bigger Manufacturing Strategy
Machine number ten is another part of Greenfield Engineering’s wider programe of investment across both manufacturing sites. Alongside CNC punching, we continue to invest across fibre laser cutting, automated punch/laser combination processing, CNC bending, robotic folding, powder coating, inspection, material storage and factory automation. Our objective is to develop capacity throughout the complete manufacturing process, ensuring investment at the front end of production is supported by the downstream capability required to maintain efficient flow, quality and dependable lead times.
Ten and Counting
Reaching 10 CNC turret punch presses marks an important point in Greenfield Engineering’s continued development and reflects the scale our manufacturing operations have reached. It also reinforces our long-term commitment to UK manufacturing and to continually investing in the machinery, automation, people and infrastructure behind it.
Ten and counting – greater capacity, greater resilience and another major milestone for Greenfield Engineering.
