Greenfield Director Daniel Green recently took part in the Amada AGIC Customer Tour in Japan from 5th to 11th October.

The tour included a visit to Amada’s Fujinomiya Manufacturing Plant (Laser Factory), located in the foothills of Mount Fuji. This site serves as a global center for innovation, focusing on the design and development of new laser technologies. The group also spent two days at the Amada Global Innovation Centre (AGIC) in Ishida, gaining valuable insight into Amada’s latest advancements in sheet metal processing.

The AGIC is home to the world’s largest in-house exhibition facility, covering 30,000 sqm (322,000 sqft). Developed in collaboration with the neighbouring Amada Forum, a 12-storey multipurpose training and accommodation complex, the site features the Innovation Labo, Innovation Site, Engineering Field, and Sheet Metal Technology Exhibition Area.

Across these two locations, attendees were able to engage with Amada’s newest technologies in laser processing, punching, automated forming, and robotic fibre welding, providing a deep understanding of Amada’s latest innovations and manufacturing capabilities.

In addition to the technical programe, the group enjoyed cultural excursions in and around Tokyo, including:

• Bullet Train journey to Odawara and a visit to Odawara Castle
• Visit to the Meiji Shrine
• Experience at Shibuya Crossing
• Trip to the Tokyo Sky Tree
• Visit to the Japanese Sword Museum
• Tokyo Bay Cruise

Reflecting on the trip, Daniel Green commented:

“The tour was both informative and culturally outstanding. Visiting Japan was an excellent experience, and Amada’s facilities were truly impressive. The level of global-scale investment is incredible. The hospitality was exceptional, and Amada Japan made us all feel very welcome. The food was certainly an adventure – I’m not sure I’ll be rushing to try jellyfish again! Thank you to the Amada UK sales team who accompanied us on the tour — Chris Williams, Ben Devlin, and Richard Middleton — and a big thanks to Paul Mansfield, Amada UK Managing Director, for inviting me on this incredible trip.”
