By 27 July 2026No Comments

On a sunny evening on Friday 24 July, Greenfield Engineering faced Harpers Feeds in an entertaining T20 cricket match at Stanhope Park, to support the Holsworthy Area Sports Pavilion.

With Greenfield short of a few players, the incredible nine-year-old Sonny Wonacott stepped up and certainly made an impact. Sonny produced a memorable performance, taking two wickets against the Harpers side.

Harpers recorded an impressive 225 runs from their 20 overs. Dale Dinner also claimed two wickets, although a dropped a sitter of a catch provided one of the entertaining moments of the evening and resulted in an impromptu performance of the can-can!

In reply, Greenfield reached 154 runs. Bilal Darbar led the scoring with an excellent 51, while Jack Greening contributed 28 before retiring. During his innings, one of Jack’s powerful shots unfortunately found its way through the living-room window of a neighbouring property! Matt Gliddon added 10 runs, including a huge six in to the same properties garden, while Greg Snowden demonstrated his considerable power by breaking one of Jack’s bats.

Although Harpers secured victory by 71 runs, the match was played in excellent spirits and provided an enjoyable evening for players and spectators.
