Greenfield Engineering has further strengthened its sheet metal forming capability with the addition of a second Amada EGB 1303e press brake, continuing its investment in advanced servo-electric bending technology.
Following the installation of our first EGB 1303e earlier this year, this latest investment expands capacity within our forming department and provides greater flexibility in production planning. The additional machine will support customer requirements across a broad range of component sizes, complexities and production volumes.
The EGB 1303e combines 130 tonnes of bending capacity with a working length of approximately three meters. Its servo-electric drive delivers controlled, repeatable bending performance, while dynamic asymmetric crowning helps maintain accuracy across the bend length, including when forming components positioned away from the center of the machine.
AMADA’s AMNC 4ie control platform supports programming and machine operation, helping our team manage varied forming requirements efficiently. Together, these technologies provide a platform for producing precision sheet metal components consistently, from smaller detailed parts to larger folded panels.
Adding a second machine of the same model also provides greater scope to allocate work between presses, supporting production scheduling and continuity as customer requirements develop. For customers, the investment is intended to strengthen our ability to manage both repeat orders and new projects while maintaining consistent quality.
The all-electric drive removes the need for hydraulic oil in the bending drive system and reduces associated maintenance requirements. This supports Greenfield’s continued focus on improving operational efficiency through investment in modern manufacturing equipment.
Nick Westlake, Business Manager at Greenfield Engineering, commented:
“Investing in a second Amada EGB 1303e strengthens our ability to support customers with accurate, consistent sheet metal forming. The additional capacity gives us greater flexibility when planning production and managing a varied workload. This investment supports our focus on maintaining quality, meeting delivery requirements and developing the manufacturing capability our customers need as their businesses grow.”
Our second EGB 1303e forms part of a wider programme of investment in equipment, facilities and people. By continuing to develop our core manufacturing capabilities, we are building the capacity and flexibility needed to support long-term customer relationships and future growth.
