Greenfield Engineering has introduced new Resource & Knowledge Hubs across our manufacturing sites, providing employees with easier access to important Health & Safety information, quality and productivity performance, company resources and reporting tools directly from the shop floor.
Each hub combines a large digital information display with an interactive touchscreen, creating a central point where employees can access up-to-date information without needing to leave their working area or rely on paper-based documentation.
The large screens provide clear, visual dashboards covering key indicators across Health & Safety, Quality and Productivity. This includes inspection results, accidents, near misses, corrective actions, workplace noise and air-quality monitoring, alongside quality performance, production output and other operational KPIs.
With nearly 140 employees across the business, making this information clearly visible to our teams is an important part of maintaining awareness and engagement. Our current Health & Safety statistics are meeting established targets, and the increased visibility provided by the hubs is proving beneficial in keeping performance, reporting and continuous improvement firmly in focus across the workforce.
Daniel Green, Director at Greenfield Engineering, commented:
“With nearly 140 people across the business, communication and visibility of information are incredibly important. These hubs put Health & Safety, quality and productivity performance directly in front of our teams rather than keeping it within management reports. Our Health & Safety indicators are meeting target, and making the results fully visible helps everyone understand where we are performing well and where we can continue to improve.”
Rather than Health & Safety performance being confined to management reports, the hubs allow everyone to see how the business is performing. Teams can better understand current results, identify trends, highlight areas requiring attention and recognize improvements as they happen. The interactive touchscreen provides direct access to a wider range of resources, including risk assessments, COSHH information, toolbox talks, incident and near-miss reporting, quality documentation, training information, company policies and other employee resources.
A key objective of the project is to make important information both more accessible and more visible. Employees can quickly find the information they need, review current performance and have a straightforward route to report hazards, accidents, near misses and other issues as they occur. The hubs also support Greenfield’s continued move towards a more connected and digitally managed manufacturing environment. Bringing live safety, quality and productivity data together with documentation and reporting tools provides greater transparency across the business and strengthens communication between the shop floor, management and support functions.
The introduction of the Resource & Knowledge Hubs forms part of our wider programe of continuous improvement across Greenfield Engineering, complementing our ongoing investment in manufacturing technology, digitalization, employee development and workplace safety. As the system develops, the hubs will continue to evolve as a central platform for information, knowledge and performance across the business, helping ensure our teams remain informed, engaged and focused on delivering safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
